With an inspired vision in mind, the owner of a red brick farm house approached KSL to create a truly bespoke bathroom design.
Challenge
KSL’s designer Rebecca Reynolds was tasked with bringing the vision for a classic, yet contemporary bathroom, to life.
The weight of all the fixtures and fittings had to be considered due to the age of the farm house, along with practical elements of installing waste pipes under the floorboards. The original oak floorboards were a vital feature of the bathroom design.
Solution
Rebecca worked with the customer to ensure their dream of an elegant, free-standing bath was realised, accommodating the need to fit in waste pipes under the floorboards.
The bathroom also featured a bespoke vanity unit designed by Rebecca and the customer, which was placed under a window with breath-taking views over the fields.
The bathroom design was completed with marble facing tiles – just a few millimetres of marble laid on top of regular tiles which meant the customer could have the tiles they wanted without the additional weight.
“The customer I was working with on this project had a very definite vision for the bathroom that she’d seen in a magazine. The challenge was to deliver her vision within the confines of a period property. I love the design we worked on together. For me it’s the perfect balance of original features from the beautiful wide oak floorboards and classic modernity from the bathroom scheme itself.”
